A DNA TEST AND A NEW GRANDFATHER
Perhaps you took a DNA test recently just for fun. Or, maybe you wanted to learn more about your family's ethnicity or where your family originated from, only to discover that a parent or grandparent you have known your entire life is not really your biological parent or grandparent. Having experienced this myself, I understand just how surprising and shocking this can be. I'd like to share with you my crazy wild journey after taking my own Ancestry DNA Test. I share my story here to offer hope to those of you who may be searching for your own biological family members you don't know anything about.
THERE ARE NO COINCIDENCES
There is a growing amount of research being done around the belief that the DNA of our ancestors can influence not only our own physical traits (eye color, height, skin tone, etc.), but also many of our life choices as well. It is believed that the life experiences of our ancestors can be stored in the cells of their DNA and then it is passed down generation after generation. I still get goosebumps every time I recall when I found this to be true the first time while working on a research project for someone wanting to know more about her Italian ancestry. WHO'S COMING TO YOUR HOUSE FOR THE HOLIDAYS?
Our family gatherings may look a little different this year., and perhaps smaller than we have love in the past, yet, holidays are still a great time to learn more about your family, history, and the many members of your family tree. I encourage you to take time to share stories and family memories with your loved ones as you get gathered this year.. every family is different, and every family has their own unique story. with permission, I share the story about a family, and the significance of writing everything down as you learn more about how everyone is related in your own tree. Sometimes, you just never know the twists and turns of a conversation can take.
